All the bold, savoury Philly-style flavour you crave, served with creamy garlic mashed potatoes for the ultimate comfort-food combo. Tender steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and a rich, cheesy finish make this one weeknight comfort at its finest, without being complicated.
Ingredients
2 bell peppers
1 small yellow onion
1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced beef strips
3 cups sliced mushrooms
1 tbsp oil
1 pkg Philly-Style Cheesesteak Seasoning
1 cup grated mozzarella or provolone cheese
4 medium potatoes
¾ cup milk
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp Herb & Garlic
Preparation
PHILLY-STYLE CHEESESTEAK FILLING
Preheat oven to 375° F.
Slice peppers and thinly slice onion. In a large bowl, combine peppers, onion, beef, mushrooms, oil, and seasoning. Toss until well coated.
Arrange in a single layer on a sheet pan as best you can. Roast for 15 min. Remove from oven; sprinkle with cheese. Place back in the oven and roast for 2 min, or until the cheese is melted.
MASHED POTATOES
While filling is roasting, chop potatoes into 1" cubes. Boil until fork-tender (about 15 - 20 minutes)
Meanwhile, heat milk with seasoning in a small pot
Mash or whip potatoes until lump-free. Add heated milk mixture and butter, stirring until smooth.
