This meatball casserole is the perfect winter comfort food. It’s saucy, hearty, and so much fun to make! Prep the meatballs ahead, stash them in the freezer and, when you’re ready, just toss it all together, bake, and enjoy. Easy, cheesy, and downright pleasing!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground pork
  • 1 pkg Italian Meatball Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup milk (your choice)
  • 3 cups Marinara Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups baby spinach (chopped, optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 2/3 cup ricotta cheese

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F. Line Sheet Pan with Sheet Pan Liner.
  2. In a large bowl, combine seasoning with beef, pork, eggs, milk, and Parmesan cheese, if using.
  3. Moisten hands with water and form mixture into 32 meatballs, about 2 tbsp each. Arrange on pan.
  4. Bake 15–18 min, or until cooked through.
  5. Reduce oven to 375° F.
  6. Spread sauce into 9" X 13" baking dish. Stir spinach into sauce, if using. Arrange cooked meatballs in the dish.
  7. Dollop 1 tsp ricotta onto each meatball. Sprinkle on mozzarella.
  8. Bake 30 min or until casserole is bubbly.

Recipe Note

Swap Marinara Sauce for 2 cups Rosée Sauce combined with 1 can (14 oz/398 ml) diced tomatoes.

If desired, broil casserole for the final few mins of cooking for a crispy top to your casserole.
