Ingredients


Makes: 6 servings
  • 2 cans (19 oz/450 ml) black beans, drained and rinsed, divided
  • 1/3 C (80 ml) whole-wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 C (60 ml) light mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) Pico Salsa Mix
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Burger Seasoning
  • 1/4 C (60 ml) fresh cilantro, parsley or 2 green onions, chopped – optional
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vegetable oil

Preparation


 
  • Blend half the beans with breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Pico Salsa Mix and Seasoning for Burgers in a food processor until mixed but still chunky. Turn into a bowl and stir in remaining beans and cilantro.
  • Wet hands to prevent sticking and form mixture into 6 patties.
  • Coat a large Fry Pan with oil and set over medium-high heat. When hot, reduce heat to medium and add patties.
  • Cook for 5 minutes, then carefully and gently flip and continue cooking for about 5 more minutes, until warmed through.
